Little Black Egg Followed By 75 Dollar Bill / Little Big Band

The Arts Center at Duck Creek Farm

We’re thrilled to launch our 2025 New Music Series, curated by Peter Watrous, with a rare and powerful double bill: Little Black Egg followed by 75 Dollar Bill / Little Big Band. The concert will be held on Saturday June 21st at 6pm.

Little Black Egg

Featuring Georgia Hubley (electric guitar) and Ira Kaplan (keyboards)

Co-founder of the legendary indie rock band Yo La Tengo, Georgia Hubley brings a rare solo project to Duck Creek as Little Black Egg. Known for her atmospheric, improvised performances, Hubley’s sonic approach blends emotional depth with textural sensitivity. Accompanying her is Ira Kaplan, fellow Yo La Tengo co-founder and former music journalist (SoHo Weekly News, Village Voice, New York Rocker).

75 Dollar Bill / Little Big Band

Featuring Che Chen (guitar) and Rick Brown (percussion)

Following Hubley’s set, Duck Creek welcomes 75 Dollar Bill, the genre-defying duo of Che Chen and Rick Brown, performing with their expanded Little Big Band. Known for hypnotic performances that draw from Mauritanian guitar traditions, American blues, and minimalist structures, the ensemble creates vibrant, transcultural soundscapes. This “Little Big Band” iteration features:

Sue Garner (bass), Cheryl Kingan (saxophone), Talice Lee (violin), Steve Maing (guitar), Jim Pugliese and Barry Weisblat (percussion).

Celebrated for their critically acclaimed albums Wood/Metal/Plastic/Pattern/Rhythm/Rock and I Was Real, the group is praised for fusing global musical languages into cohesive, improvisational forms.

Our Music Series is supported by a grant from Robert and Maryann Singer, The Singer Fund, as well as Suffolk County Legislator Ann Welker and the Department of Economic Development and Planning.
