Keyes Art in Sag Harbor presents an exhibition of photographs and videos by Halsted Welles, including garden portraits, long-form time-lapse videos, and triptychs with digital stills of gardens built and maintained by Halsted Welles Associates, over the last 40 years. An opening reception will be held on January 27, from 5 to 7 PM.
The exhibit will act as the catalyst for a series of conversations about the need for collective consciousness and community engagement for the good and resilience of humankind. The discussions will take place at the gallery during the first two weeks of the exhibit.
The third week will host the unveiling of a series of validation markers and aniconic sculptural forms to be awarded for cooperative actions promoting a harmonious natural and built world. The work utilizes professional methods in the digital reproduction field, including laser scanning, 3D printing, and robotic carving. It focuses on the recognition that rewarding good creates further good and that the resilience of local communities is dependent on the cooperation of constituent groups.
Halsted Welles works at the intersection of natural and built systems, integrating art, design, and horticulture with the belief that a watershed consciousness is the fabric of social discourse.
The show runs through February 9.
