LTV Presents ‘Right Before I Go,’ Performances For Suicide Prevention & Mental Health Awareness

LTV presents “Right Before I Go,” a play by television writer and producer Stan Zimmerman on Saturdays, May 14 and 21, at 2 PM and 7:30 PM. This special theatrical event is in support of Mental Health Awareness Month, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Long Island chapter of American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Directed by Valerie diLorenzo, the cast includes Amaia Astorr, Matthew Conlon, Nina Dobiszewska, Rachel Feldman, Josh Gladstone, King Johnson, John Leonard, Brian Mott, Joe Pallister, Nicky Seitz, Susan Stout, and Elena Sweeney.

“Right Before I Go” brings to life the last words of those lost to suicide, including the suicide notes of people including Kurt Cobain, David Foster Wallace, Ralph Barton, and Virginia Woolf as well as those of the heartsick, bullied, veterans, mentally ill and the achingly lonely.

The play invokes a raw and authentic approach to storytelling in an effort to help broaden public perspective of suicide, eliminate the stigma associated with depression, and strengthen the relationship between survivors and those struggling every day.

“We want to raise awareness,” Zimmerman said. “It’s not just about tragedy; it’s also about hope.”

The play will show that crucial aspect in opening up communication about suicide and mental health in the first place is opening up a conversation.

“Right Before I Go” made its world premiere as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival in 2015, where it received rave reviews. Stage Scene LA called it “Powerful!” and “Deeply Moving!.” while ShowMag.com exclaimed, “This piece needs to be heard.”

Tickets start at $20. Visit ltveh.org.
