The Madoo Conservancy presented the 12th annual Madoo In Manhattan garden lecture at a private club in New York City, featuring Stephanie Mahon, the Editor of Gardens Illustrated magazine. She spoke about the recently published book, “The New Beautiful: Gardens for a Resilient Future” (Rizzoli, 2025), which features over thirty gardens presented in the magazine.
Opening remarks were given by Madoo Conservancy Executive Director Alejandro Saralegui, and the introduction was given by Charles Miers, Publisher, Rizzoli. Members of the audience included gardeners and design aficionados from the East End, New York City, and beyond.
In her lecture, Mahon explored contemporary landscape projects from traditional English flower gardens and romantic new country gardens to very contemporary gardens in Australia and the United States. Mahon also brought to lighta new generation of garden designers who are creating boundary-pushing spaces that change the way we think about gardens and gardening for the future.
