On September 1, Southampton Arts Center will wrap up the summer with a live concert by Tony Award-nominated Broadway actress, singer, and author Melissa Errico from 7 to 9 PM.
Errico will deliver a set of beloved standards with a series of witty and sometimes wicked stories about a girl’s, and then a woman’s, life on the Great White Way. Singing from the American Songbook, Summer Romance is a charming and rueful account of one woman’s passionate love for, and life lived richly within, the brightest lights of the American musical theater. She will feature songs by Lerner & Loewe and Rodgers & Hart, alongside show-stopping standards from The Great American Songbook, and the most powerful songs by her long-term collaborators, the late and much-missed music theatre legends, Stephen Sondheim and Michel Legrand.
Her recent performances include a Paris duet with Isabelle Georges, a cabaret at Le Bal Blomet, and an opening act for George Benson at the Montreal Jazz Festival. With expertise in both Stephen Sondheim and Michel Legrand, her album Sondheim Sublime was hailed by The Wall Street Journal as “the best all-Sondheim album ever recorded.” She also performed at Carnegie Hall and was a featured artist in a PBS documentary on Sondheim.
Errico’s wide-ranging career spans Broadway, television, and film, with notable roles in My Fair Lady, High Society, and Les Misérables. She continues to be a prominent figure in both New York theater and the global music scene, with recent projects including her album Out Of The Dark: The Film Noir Project, which received critical acclaim during a coast-to-coast concert tour.
