In conjunction with the current exhibition “Kahlo: An Expanded Body,” Parrish Art Museum’s Executive Director Mónica Ramírez-Montagut and artist/curator Cristina Kahlo-Alcala will give a talk at an in-person event at the museum on Friday, March 10, at 6 PM.
The conversation will focus on the exhibition’s investigation into Frida Kahlo through the lens of her dramatic medical history and its sustained impact on her life and work. Kahlo-Alcala, the grand-niece of Frida Kahlo who will join live via Zoom, will discuss her connection to Kahlo through her own artistic practice, and offer insight into the iconic Mexican artist’s life and work.
Guests at the program are encouraged to submit questions or thoughts about the exhibition and the artist prior to the talk, by emailing Public Programs Manager Olivia Menghini at menghinio@parrishart.org, or tagging @parrishartmuseum on Instagram and Twitter.
Admission to this talk in the museum’s Lichtenstein Theater is $5 for members, $16 for non-members adults, $12 for seniors, and free for students and children.
