The Parrish Art Museum presents Jazz on the Terrace with Michael Sarian’s New Aurora Quartet on Friday, August 6, 6 to 7:30 PM, featuring Sarian on trumpet and flugelhorn, plus piano, bass, and drums. The musician/composer has been praised for his unique compositional and instrumental voice on New Aurora — also the title of his fourth album as a leader and featuring a new acoustic quartet The project is a clear departure from his previous releases which feature extensive four-horn arrangements, electronics, and hard-hitting grooves.
The event takes place outdoors on the on the Museum’s Terrace and Event Lawn, rain or shine. It is offered free of charge thanks to the generosity of The Jam Session, in collaboration with a major donor and life-long jazz enthusiast who celebrate this true American art form. Guests may attend the concert at the Museum or watch the livestream on the Parrish YouTube channel. Those attending in person are encouraged to visit the COVID guidelines section of the website at parrishart.org, and to bring their own chairs as Museum seating is not available.
