Real Estate Confab: What Are You Thankful For This Year?

Our brokers and agents on the East End have dealt with a few unprecedented years since 2020 — first the surge in business due to the Covid-19 pandemic to now dealing with a sluggish market because of a myriad of things like mortgage rates and a lack of inventory. Despite this, they are optimistic and have much to be thankful for. We asked: What are you thankful for this year?

Oh, so much! Mostly for the health and safety of my family when there’s currently so much turmoil in the world. But I’m also eternally thankful for the trust and loyalty of my friends, clients, and customers over the years.

I am truly grateful for this community. I grew up in East Hampton and I still see the small town and the long-standing relationships that made me who I am today.

Despite the growth over the years, we are a small close-knit community.

Janet Hummel, Town & Country Real Estate

More than ever, this year I am thankful for this beautiful place I get to call home all year long. No matter what is going on in the world, I have this peaceful setting to enjoy. I think about all the panic people had during the pandemic trying to get here. Sometimes we are lucky enough to know that our lives have been changed by the places we call home. I feel that luck every time I go to the ocean and see the natural beauty we have here. “There is no place like home.”

I am thankful for all the time I was finally able to spend with my friends, family, and loved ones. Many of them live in different states, so it was difficult for us to see each other during Covid. It was wonderful to reconnect and enjoy each other’s company again.

Kelsey O’Connor, SERHANT

This year, I am truly grateful for the opportunities that working for SERHANT has provided me. The chance to be a part of such a dynamic and innovative team has been instrumental in the success of my business. It’s not just about the work; it’s about the mentorship and the camaraderie that comes along with being a part of this company. I have learned, grown, and been able to contribute in ways I never imagined.

Furthermore, my gratitude extends to my clients. I am sincerely thankful for the trust they’ve placed in me and the opportunities they’ve given me to assist them in securing their next home or listing their properties. Their support and collaboration have been a cornerstone of my career, and I’m humbled by the relationships I’ve built with them.

I am thankful that the pandemic appears to be in the rearview mirror. It has been a challenging time and this past year we all got a sigh of relief and life went back to normal — whatever normal is. The choice to socialize and celebrate with friends and family. Something we didn’t miss until we didn’t have it anymore. Let’s go out to dinner — Cheers!
