The 56th Annual Springs Improvement Society Invitational Show will be held at Ashawagh Hall on July 28 through August 6. Opening night is Friday, July 28, from 4 to 7 PM.
This year’s selected guest curator is Karyn Mannix who has chosen sixty-five East End living artists, creating a mix of the established artists with the fresh new talent of the emerging. The Invitational will have its first ever Artist’s Show Catalog that will be available for purchase for $34.95.
In 1968, the first annual SIS Invitational show Artists of the Springs was established and was organized as a fundraiser for the construction of a gallery wing to be added to Ashawagh Hall.
Commemorating its 56th year, the Invitational continues in the same historic building for the same reason, to raise money to help preserve Ashawagh Hall’s great history.
Every year, one artist is chosen to represent the show in the form of a collectible poster. In the past, many greats have had the honor including Lee Krasner, John Little, Jackson Pollock, Claus Hoie, Willem de Kooning, Miriam Schapiro, and many more. This year it is East Hampton artist Stephanie Brody-Lederman. The signed poster by the artist is $60.
At the opening there will be music by Out East, wine by BottleHampton, and the El Jefe Food Truck will be onsite.
