The Jazz Soul Celebration benefitting the Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center was held on July 29.
The event was hosted by Tamron Hall and included jazz by local saxophonist John Ludlow’s Duo and the Earth Wind & Fire Tribute Band. The event, which had 200 guests, raised $300,000 for programing.
Director Bonnie Cannon highlighted the teens and College Bound Students this year. “We want everyone to know that The Center does way more than Child Care & Recreational activities. We are a full-service community Center that has been here for 70 years. Every student gets personal mentoring and one-on-one guidance. Our four College Bound students this year received over $400,000 in financial aid and scholarship money. Thanks to The Center’s individualized guidance. We pride ourselves on being family.”
Teens exhibited their “TAKE A SEAT” project created with the Watermill Center. The Center’s new building has allowed the organization to double the children in its After-School programs. They are also able to continue the weekly food pantry and provide emergency financial assistance to those most in need.
