The Watermill Center Presents ‘Viewpoints’ with Niamuck Land Trust

The Watermill Center will host Niamuck Land Trust CEOs Tela Troge and Shane Weeks as part of “Viewpoints,” its year-round conversation series granting art enthusiasts the opportunity to discuss creative themes vital to the contemporary movement.

Niamuck Land Trust, composed solely of members of the Shinnecock Nation, is committed to working to protect, preserve, and purchase indigenous burial sites and culturally significant sites sacred to the Shinnecock Nation and their neighboring indigenous communities.

At this event, Troge and Weeks will share information regarding the work and purpose of the Graves Protection Warrior Society, the mission of the Niamuck Land Trust, Shinnecock history, and history of the Indigenous Peoples of Long Island. Copies of Week’s book, “Good Neighbors: A Shinnecock History from a Shinnecock Perspective,” will be available for purchase.

The conversation will take place on Tuesday, August 23 at 6 PM. To purchase tickets, visit eventbrite.com.
