Ursula Burns, the first Black woman CEO of a Fortune 500 company, will speak at the Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center this summer.
Known as the most powerful female Black Executive in the country, Burns has extensive international experience in leading large companies that are facing technology sea changes within their industries. In 1980, Burns started as an intern for Xerox. She was named President in 2007, CEO from 2009 to 2016, and Chairman of the Board from 2010 to 2017.
President Barack Obama appointed Burns to lead the White House national program on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) from 2009 to 2016. Burns regularly appears on Fortune’s and Forbes’ list of the world’s most powerful women. She is also a board Director of Exxon Mobil and Uber and an author, whose prize-winning book “Where You Are Is Not Who You Are” was published in June 2021.
The event will be moderated by long-time BHCCRC Advisory Board Member Ken Miller, a former Senior Advisor at Teneo. It will be held on Friday, July 22 at 4 PM. The event will be followed by a reception at The Church in Sag Harbor.
