Virtuoso New York-Based Sax Player Stan Killian To Perform At Parrish Art

Virtuoso New York-based sax player and critically acclaimed recording artist Stan Killian performs with his Quartet on Friday, December 16 at 6 PM, as part of the Parrish Art Museum’s ongoing partnership with Hamptons Jazz Fest. The concert in the Lichtenstein Theater will include originals, jazz favorites, and holiday-themed selections.

A Texas native with multiple recordings from the age of 21, Killian has performed in New York’s top jazz venues including The Iridium, Blue Note, Kitano, and The 55 Bar — as well as Carnegie Hall and on international tours in Mexico, Europe, Japan, Korea, and China. Born into a musical family, he began performing professionally at age 15 with his father — a jazz pianist and B3 organist who worked as a sideman with jazz greats. At 21, Killian released his first album Straight Ahead, featuring his father, James Polk, and trumpeter Martin Banks. In 2003, he formed the quintet Com Você with vocalist Margret Grebowicz and released Candeias.

Killian relocated to New York and began his partnership with Sunnyside Records with the album Com Você. Several years later, his focus switched to his own music. He formed a powerful quartet with Benito Gonzalez, Corcoran Holt, and McClenty Hunter, performing at The 55 Bar. With Roy Hargrove, the group recorded Unified in 2011 and Evoke in 2013— prompting tours of Asia, Mexico and the US.

Tickets are $10 for members and students and $20 for adults.
