The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation hosted a cocktail party on Wednesday, April 27, at Versa in New York City to kick off two vital SWCRF fundraising events: the 19th Annual Hamptons Happening and the virtual Step Up To Turn Off Cancer endurance event.
Events such as these have allowed SWCRF to invest more than $100 million towards collaborative cancer research programs, supporting hundreds of investigators around the world. SWCRF-funded scientists have made many breakthrough discoveries in the fight against cancer.
Attendees included Dr. Samuel Waxman, SWCRF CEO and Founder, this year’s Hamptons Happening honorees Lori and Scott Levine, Richard Kind, James Ingram, Leesa Rowland, Orital Karelic, Marion Waxman, designer Kobi Halperin, Randi Schatz, Nadja Sayej, Brigitte Segura, event chairs Mark D. Friedman and Jamie Koff, and event co-chairs, Bryan Griffin, Elena Gibbs, Bess Freedman, and Erica Linden-Fineberg.
This year’s Hamptons Happenings will be held on Saturday, July 8, at the Bridgehampton Estate of Kenneth and Maria Fishel. Attendees will enjoy a night of tastings from dozens of chefs, restaurants, and beverage companies all while raising critical funds for cancer research.
The Step Up To Turn Cancer Off is a virtual fundraising event where participants keep track of their physical activities in order to reach their daily “step” goal. An easy-to-use online tool will convert nearly any activity such as walking, running swimming, dancing, yoga, gardening etc. into steps. Participants can register individually or as a team and then share progress with peers and family to garner donations. The week-long challenge runs from June 19 through 26.
