In light of the war in Ukraine and the mounting challenges its people face, the William Ris Gallery in Jamesport has changed its 2022 calendar to help raise money to support those in need. On April 30 a show opens with single works by over 40 artists represented by the East End gallery. A reception will be held from 4 to 7 PM.
“HEARTS & SOULS” is a show dedicated to help the thousands of victims suffering through the turmoil of war in Ukraine. A portion of sales will go to Razom, a charitable organization benefiting the countless victims in need as a result of the war. Razom is responding to the needs of the people by providing critical humanitarian war relief and recovery depending on the most urgent needs as they evolve. “Razom” is Ukrainian for “together.”
Gallery owner Mary Cantone said, “Watching the news I am reminded just how fortunate we all are. This is how we can help in a small but important way. The artists have stepped up without hesitation to participate in this meaningful event. I couldn’t look away. It’s the right thing to do.”
