Dr. Temur Chowdhury is the founder of White Glove Medicine, an East End based at-home urgent care service. The doctor started his career in Southampton and has been involved in providing care for underserved communities. We caught up with Dr. Chowdhury to learn more about the services that WGM offers, including at-home Covid testing.
Tell us a little about your background.
I completed my training at one of the top five family medicine programs in the US, the University of Minnesota in downtown Minneapolis. Upon graduation, I decided to return home and join an FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Center) in Southampton to be involved in providing care for the underserved community that keeps “The Hamptons” running behind the scene. Shortly after, I was appointed a Medical Director role at Sunriver Healthcare as well as given the title of assistant clinical professor at SUNY Stony Brook Medicine where we train future docs — Stony Brook Medicine residents. Along with serving the underserved community, I am also involved in caring and educating New York State Troopers and their families.
What was your inspiration for starting White Glove Medicine?
Urgent care services at your home! It’s unfortunate but the reality is people are turned away from many walk-in clinics/urgent cares or must wait on lines for nearly 5 to 6 hours to obtain Covid testing or be seen by a provider. White Glove Medicine was inspired to fill-in gaps in care with a personalized and “white glove” approach. There are no membership fees. This is a practice that is geared to anyone and everyone that feels the need to present to an urgent care without dealing with rejection or wasting half the day while waiting for their appointment.
What are some of the services you offer?
At-home Covid testing. We offer a wide array of testing including FDA Emergency Use Authorization rapid antigen testing, Abbott molecular (NAAT) testing, as well as the most accurate Accula RT-PCR by Thermofisher. All our tests are CLIA certified and accepted for all domestic and international travels. Tests are run in the homes of patients and results are given within 30 minutes. Appts are available for same-day or can be scheduled in advance as well as after-hours. Urgent care house calls or tele-medicine calls are also available. Prices start at $250 and depend on the service requested.
