Bay Street Presents Title Wave: New Works Festival

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts presents the 8th annual Title Wave: 2022 New Works Festival, scheduled to take place Friday, May 6, through Sunday, May 8.

This year, the festival will introduce two new musicals and two new plays to the Bay Street stage over the course of the weekend.

The weekend is a unique showcase of cutting-edge theater, complete with staged readings, talkbacks, and critical discussion, providing a rare opportunity for directors and actors to work on their play in-person.

Selected from more than 600 submissions, the four plays selected are “Double Helix,” a musical by Madeline Myers; “Atacama,” a play by Augusto Federico Amador; “One Man Titanic,” a one-man musical with book by Scott Rothman, music by Joe Kinosian, and lyrics by Kellen Blair; and “Zero State,” a play by Allison Moon.

“I’m so excited that Bay Street is presenting our first fully live New Works Festival in three years, and it’s going to be a great one!” said Bay Street Artistic Director Scott Schwartz. “This is the first time ever we will be presenting two new musicals and two new plays in the Festival. All four works are by brilliant writers and are wildly different, but they all offer vivid explorations of what makes us human and of our deepest needs and desires. I can’t wait to welcome the East End Community back to our Festival as we kick off our fully live and in-person 2022 summer season!”

Tickets are available for a $10 fee that goes to supporting new works initiatives at Bay Street Theater, or a festival pass with tickets to each performance can be purchased for $25. For tickets, visit baystreet.org.
