Salon Series, the Parrish Art Museum’s classical music program featuring world-class artists performing in an intimate setting, continues its Spring season with harpist Parker Ramsay on Friday, May 6, at 6 PM and violinist Ariel Horowitz on Friday, May 13, at 6 PM.
Dedicated to invigorating the existing works for the harp while delving into new and underperformed works, Parker Ramsay expands the capability of the instrument in unexpected new ways. At Salon Series, he will play a harp arrangement of Johann Sebastian Bach’s tour de force, The Goldberg Variations, originally composed for keyboards and published in 1741. Ramsay will perform 23 of the 30 variations, as well as the Aria and Aria da Capo.
Internationally acclaimed violinist Ariel Horowitz has performed as a soloist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Kammerphilharmonie Hamburg, and Santa Fe ProMusica Orchestra. She recently premiered two original works for violin and voice at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall and the Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theater. At Salon Series, Horowitz will play an eclectic program featuring works by jazz, Baroque, and contemporary composers.
Tickets are $15 for members and students, $5 for children, and $25 for nonmember adults.
