BCM Autumn: Bridgehampton Chamber Music’s Fall Series Presents Brooklyn Rider, Gilles Vonsattel, And A ‘Festive Baroque’ Holiday Concert

Bridgehampton Chamber Music presents three dynamic programs for its BCM Autumn concert series to round out the year: the celebrated string quartet Brooklyn Rider, pianist Gilles Vonsattel playing Beethoven, and a “Festive Baroque” holiday concert led by BCM founder Marya Martin.

Brooklyn Rider

Called “one of the most adventurous string quartets” by The New York Times, Brooklyn Rider celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Its October 18 BCM program begins with Haydn and concludes with Beethoven, with Matana Roberts’s “borderlands” and an arrangement of Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are A-Changin’” in between.

Gilles Vonsattel.

On November 15, pianist Gilles Vonsattel, back with BCM by popular demand, continues his exploration of Beethoven’s piano sonatas by pairing the composer’s first sonata with the late, audacious masterpiece “Hammerklavier.”

Marya Martin, Kristin Lee, Kevin Zhu, Estelle Choi, and Kenneth Weiss.

On December 13, flutist and BCM founder Marya Martin and four of BCM’s best — violinists Kristin Lee and Kevin Zhu, cellist Estelle Choi, and harpsichordist Kenneth Weiss — perform a “Festive Baroque” program of music by Telemann, Vivaldi, and others to celebrate the holiday season.

In the four decades since its founding in 1984, Bridgehampton Chamber Music has become known for presenting a broad range of music performed by some of the best musicians in the world in one of the most beautiful seaside settings on the East Coast. With autumn and spring mini-series joining the summer festival, Bridgehampton Chamber Music now offers programs almost year-round.

The 5 PM Saturday concerts take place in the Bridgehampton Presbyterian Church, the home of Long Island’s longest-running classical music festival. Visit bcmf.org for tickets.
