Booze-Free Cocktails For Dry January, Shared By ‘The Dry Challenge’ Author Hilary Sheinbaum

Hilary Sheinbaum is the author of “The Dry Challenge,” a book that helps readers tackle Dry January or any other booze-free month. Here, she shares with us two of her favorite non-alcoholic cocktails — The Free Spirited Bee, using Free Spirits Gin, and the Zen Hot Toddy made with Three Spirit Nightcap.

Free Spirited Bee

2 oz Free Spirits Gin

3⁄4 oz honey syrup (2 parts honey – 1 part water)

3⁄4 oz lemon juice

6 blueberries

3 thyme sprigs

Directions

Muddle 2 thyme sprigs and blueberries in a cocktail shaker.

Add the rest of the ingredients with ice.

Shake and strain into a coupe glass.

Garnish with the remaining thyme.

Zen Hot Toddy

2 fl oz Three Spirit Nightcap

2 barspoons maple syrup

5 fl oz boiling water

Big lemon wheel, studded with 8 cloves

1 star anise

Directions

Stud a whole lemon with lots and lots of cloves before cutting into slices. To stud, pierce holes into the lemon zest with a fork then push cloves in.

Warm your cup with hot water first. Once warm, empty out the water and add ingredients.

Stir briefly to combine.

Serve piping hot.
