Chelsea Clinton, Courtney Sheinmel, and Kelly Starling Lyons will hold a conversation and Q&A where they discuss “She Persisted: Helen Keller” and “She Persisted: Coretta Scott King,” the twelfth and fourteenth nonfiction books in the chapter book series which is inspired by Clinton’s “She Persisted.”
The series is about women who stood up and spoke up throughout history. Each 80 page book features an introduction by Clinton, cover art by Alexandra Boiger, and interior illustrations by Gillian Flint.
In “She Persisted: Helen Keller” by Sheinmel, readers learn about the life of Helen Keller. Keller lost her sight and hearing during childhood, but that didn’t stop her from learning to read and speak.
“She Persisted: Coretta Scott King,” is by Starling Lyons. Readers learn about Coretta Scott King, the wife of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who was a civil rights activist and leader, as well as a singer and an author.
