Southampton Village will again have its own full-service independent bookstore. Longtime Village resident Pippa Gerard has partnered with Finley Shaw, proprietor of Finley’s Fiction on Shelter Island, to open Finley’s Fiction Southampton.
The Jobs Lane location will initially feature best sellers, current non-fiction, children’s books, cards, and other small gifts.
“I’ve always believed a bookstore is an essential component of a community like ours,” said Gerard. “Ever since the last one closed, I’ve been thinking about how to start a new one. I approached Finley, a family friend for many years, who has the expertise and track record to support a successful project. When Finley said yes, I moved quickly to secure the space.”
Southampton Village Mayor Bill Manger applauded the move. “While we are blessed with one of the finest libraries on Long Island, a small bookshop where visitors and residents can pick up a book to enjoy at the beach is a terrific addition to the community. I’ve known Pippa my whole life, and I’m thrilled that she and Finley will be bringing a bookstore to Southampton Village.”
Finley’s Fiction Southampton is located at 43a Jobs Lane.
