Hampton Lifeguard Association’s President, John Ryan Jr., was recently selected as a delegate for the Mid-Atlantic region for the United States Lifesaving Association. The United States Lifesaving Association is America’s nonprofit, professional association of beach lifeguards and open-water rescuers.
Created in 1979, USLA was established to maintain high standards of professional surf and open-water lifesaving to maximize public safety. This is the first time in USLA’s history that a delegate was selected from the East End. Ryan’s selection as a delegate to the national organization allows the East End to have a voice in several national water safety initiatives.
“This is a huge step in the mission to waterproof Long Island’s South Fork. As a delegate from the East End of Long Island, Johnny will gain a ton of knowledge on national initiatives for lifesaving, which will ultimately benefit our community,” shared HLA Vice President TJ Calabrese.
The mission of the Hampton Lifeguard Association is to waterproof the South Fork and beyond through education and training. To promote the safe use and enjoyment of our many water resources in all communities, HLA assists and participates in water safety programs and lifeguard activities that maintain the well-being of its members and the surrounding communities.
