The 78th Annual Artists & Writers Charity Softball Game returns to East Hampton on August 15, bringing together artists, writers, celebrities, athletes, and cultural figures for one of the East End’s longest-running traditions.
We are actively seeking magazine, television, newspaper, digital and media coverage and invite photographers, videographers, television crews, reporters and editors to attend and cover this important cultural event.
YOU NEVER KNOW WHO MAY SHOW UP
This year, invitations have been extended to Robert Downey Jr., Jennifer Coolidge, Ted Jones, John Hildebrandt, Liz Rubin, John Mayer, Jon Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, Darryl Strawberry, Doc Gooden and other notable figures from entertainment, music, art and sports.
A LEGENDARY ROSTER OF PAST PLAYERS
Over its 78-year history, the Artists & Writers Game has welcomed an extraordinary roster of artists, writers, musicians, actors, athletes and public figures, including Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Franz Kline, Lee Krasner, Joan Mitchell, Roy Lichtenstein, Larry Rivers, Kurt Vonnegut, George Plimpton, Alec Baldwin, Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Eric Fischl, Julian Schnabel, David Salle, Ken Auletta, Yogi Berra, Joe Torre, John Franco, Jim Leyritz, Darryl Strawberry, Doc Gooden and many other notable participants.
The tradition continues to bring together the worlds of art, culture, entertainment and professional sports in a uniquely East Hampton setting.
We are also seeking local and regional businesses interested in sponsoring or donating to support the event and the charities it serves. Businesses can participate through sponsorships, donations, products, services or other forms of support.
Founded in 1948 on artist Wilfrid Zogbaum’s front lawn in Springs, the game began as a gathering of members of New York’s Abstract Expressionist community. What began as a picnic and friendly softball game has become a nearly eight-decade East Hampton tradition supporting local charities.
