Insight Sunday At The Church With Artist Almond Zigmund

The Church in Sag Harbor presents the first Insight Sunday of 2023 with renowned artist Almond Zigmund on Sunday, January 29, at 10:30 AM.

Zigmund kicks off the popular series that provides an in-depth look at the process, techniques, and concepts of art, straight from the maker’s point of view. Insight Sundays are held the last Sunday of each month.

Artwork by Almond Zigmund.

Originally from Brooklyn, Zigmund received a BFA from Parsons School of Design in New York and Paris and an MFA from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she studied art theory and criticism with the MacArthur Award-winning critic Dave Hickey.

Zigmund makes large-scale site-responsive installations, discrete sculptures, works on paper, and paintings. Combining crisp geometry, vivid color, and intricate patterns, Zigmund’s sculptures and installations often suggest walls, barricades, enclosures, and other aspects of the built environment. The architectonic works engage the eye and the body at once, offering generous amounts of visual stimulation while also inducing visceral reactions to the virtual and actual spaces.

Insight Sundays are the ultimate behind-the-scenes sneak peek into an artist’s mind. Join for the opportunity to hear Almond Zigmund focus on her two works, see them through her eyes, and explore how it relates to her career and process.

Also new for this year, will be advance viewings of the artist’s work. Drop by The Church to preview two new works by Zigmund, which will be on view through January 29. Tickets are free for The Church members or $10 for non-members.
