In conjunction with the Spring exhibition, “Return to A Place By the Sea,” that feature works by Nanette Carter, Gregory Coates, Al Loving, and Frank Wimberley, The Church in Sag Harbor welcomes artist Gregory Coates as a featured artist for the Insight Sunday series on Sunday, February 26, at 10:30 AM.
Coates has four works dating from 1998-2019 included in the exhibition, which will be on view through May 21. The show revisits and recontextualizes the 1999 exhibition, “A Place By the Sea,” highlighting the works and friendship between the four artists. One of Coates’s works, “Shiroco,” was part of the original 1999 show. Coates’s other works demonstrate his continuing interest in experimenting and presentation.
Insight Sundays provide an in-depth look at the process, techniques, and concepts of art straight from the maker’s point of view. Insight Sundays are held on the last Sunday of each month and are free to members and $10 for non members.
