JK Art & Design Projects in collaboration with Haslauer Gallery presents “Centenarians: Three Brazilian Women Artists” in Southampton. The exhibition reflects on the extraordinary longevity of these artists’ lives and practices, each extending toward or beyond a century.
Bringing together works by Jandyra Waters, Renina Katz, and Niobe Xandó, the exhibition presents a focused selection of historically significant and late-career works by women artists whose practices span from the 1940s through the 2000s. Working across decades of profound cultural and artistic transformation, these artists developed distinct and sustained visual languages in dialogue with the evolving field of Brazilian modern and postwar abstraction.
As women operating within a predominantly male-defined artistic landscape, they forged independent trajectories marked by discipline, invention, and intellectual clarity — contributing to and expanding the formal and conceptual frameworks surrounding the Neo-Concrete movement and its broader context, with their work gaining renewed visibility in recent years.
The exhibition is open and will run through July 15.
