Following the success of last year’s inaugural Magic of Montauk, the holiday fair returns Saturday, December 9, from 2 to 7 PM. Taking place on the Green in the heart of Montauk, the event is perfect for families and kids of all ages.
The Green will be transformed into a winter wonderland, courtesy of Lighting the Christmas Joy. Visitors will have the opportunity once again to get their photo taken with live reindeer that will be “flying” into the hamlet for the festivities. Santa will also be returning, and kids will have the chance to share their gift lists with him.
“We were thrilled with the turnout from last year’s Magic of Montauk and by the way in which the businesses, residents, and visitors alike embraced the festive spirit,” said Mariah Miltier, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Visit Montauk. “We can’t wait to see even more folks participate in this year’s event and cement it as a lasting Montauk tradition.”
In addition to tasting hot chocolate from local restaurants (and voting on their favorites) guests will be able to purchase mulled wine, craft beer, and wine to drink. Pretzels from Knot of This World and other treats to snack on will be available. There will also be live music.
For those wanting to kick off the weekend ahead of the main event, The Shagwong will be the place to be on Friday night to imbibe in the holiday spirit, as people gather at the pub for merrymaking. Local businesses will be transformed with decorations, with proprietors competing in an annual holiday decorating contest.
“It’s been our dream to make Montauk come alive during the holidays,” said Leo Daunt, President of the Chamber of Commerce. “This year’s event is going to be bigger than ever, and we’re excited to celebrate with everyone and show them why Montauk is a perfect year-round destination.”
