NPR’s Ophira Eisenberg Brings Her Wit To Sag Harbor

Bay Street Theater’s Summer Comedy series returns with a voice that’s anything but typical. Ophira Eisenberg, the NPR-famous storyteller known for turning chaos into punchlines, takes the stage for one-night-only on Saturday, June 21, at 8 PM.

A Canadian-born standup comedian, writer, and host, Eisenberg is best known as the longtime host of NPR’s comedy trivia show “Ask Me Another,” where she interviewed and played games with a wide variety of A-list guests including Sir Patrick Stewart, Awkwafina, Rosie Perez, Yo-Yo Ma, Bob The Drag Queen, and Jim Gaffigan. She is also the host of “Parenting Is A Joke,” a podcast from iHeartRadio and Pretty Good Friends, which brings comic honesty to the highs and lows of raising a child while performing for a living.

Live, Eisenberg blends stand-up and storytelling with the timing of a veteran and the edge of someone who always tells the truth. Her credits include Comedy Central, HBO’s “Girls,” “The Late Late Show,” “Gotham Live,” and “The Today Show.” She is also a regular with “The Moth,” featured in two bestselling collections, including the New York Times Bestseller “How To Tell A Story.”

“If you love NPR, you already know Ophira’s voice. And if you don’t, this is the perfect place to discover it,” said Tracy Mitchell, Executive Director of Bay Street Theater. “She’s wicked funny, whip-smart, and exactly the kind of performer we want in the room right now.”

Eisenberg’s performance is the first in this year’s Summer Comedy series, a lineup of one-night-only appearances by today’s most fearless comedic voices. She’ll be followed on July 26 at 8 PM by iconic comedian Paula Poundstone, known for her smart, observational humor and the kind of spontaneous wit that has become the stuff of legend.
