On May 7, Ross School families will gather for the Ross Cares Community Service Fair on the Ross Upper School campus to cultivate, explore, and promote acts of service for the East End local community.
This event is the culmination of an all-school campaign for Supplies for Success to raise funds for 500 supply-filled backpacks for local children in-need to return to school ready and confident this fall. The backpack distribution will serve students from Southampton, East Hampton, Bridgehampton, Springs, and Tuckahoe Schools.
The service fair will include assembling backpacks and enjoying a day of community building and outreach. In addition to packing backpacks, attendees can: connect with service-based Ross Parent Committees and visit local organizations, create cards for backpack recipients, enjoy a treat from the Ross Café, and peruse the Uniform Exchange Boutique.
The morning of May 7 will kick off with a Welcome Walk and Fun Run to support the Ross Annual Fund that finishes at the Ross Center for Well Being with a visit from Mr. Softee and the Celebration of Community Service.
The parent-led Ross Community Care Committee initiated the campaign and service fair to provide students with a meaningful way to give back to the local community. Students raise funds through personal online pages, assemble backpacks and participate in distribution to other local students.
Mindy Richenstein, Founder and President of Supplies for Success, said, “We are thrilled for the opportunity to work with Ross to empower their students to make a difference in the lives of local children whose families cannot afford the essentials for learning. Empowering children to give back to kids in need in their community not only teaches them compassion but teaches them a life lesson in how to find happiness. It’s a win-win!”
In attendance at the service fair are local service based organizations including Center for Therapeutic Riding of the East End (CTREE), Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreational Center, Citizens For Humanity, Maureen’s Haven, OLA of Eastern Long Island, Project Most, Hamptons United, The Retreat, Stony Hill Stables Foundation, and Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation.
Service-based Ross Parent Committees include the Community Care Committee, Advancement Committee, Campus Beautification Committee, Environmental Committee, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, Babysitters Club, and Admissions and Welcome Committee.
The event will take place from 10 AM to 4 PM at Ross Upper School Campus, located at 18 Goodfriend Drive in East Hampton.
