Julia McCormack has been appointed President of The Southampton Hospital Foundation and Chief Development Officer for Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. She is charged with leading the campaign to fund the building of a new hospital facility on the Southampton campus of Stony Brook University.

“Julia brings a proven track record in development, specializing in fundraising for healthcare and academic institutions, as well as community organizations,” said Kenneth B. Wright, Chair, Southampton Hospital Association. “She resides in Southampton and, most recently, successfully led the campaign to secure funding for the completion of the Montauk Community Playhouse aquatic center — a feat many doubted could be accomplished.”

“Julia has also successfully led philanthropic efforts for New York’s Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the Conquer Cancer Foundation (formerly known as The ASCO Foundation) in Alexandria, Virginia, and Miss Porter’s School in Farmington, Connecticut,” added Jim Forbes, Vice Chair, Southampton Hospital Association. “She has the necessary experience and the passion to move our campaign initiative forward.”

“I am delighted to play a role in furthering Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s mission of expanding health care throughout the South Fork,” said Julia McCormack. “As a resident on the East End, I am deeply impressed with Stony Brook Medicine’s commitment to bringing high-quality health care, including skilled specialists and advanced technologies, to our many communities and look forward to partnering, as we work together to build a new facility capable of adapting and responding to emerging medical needs.”

“Julia’s impressive philanthropic experience and knowledge of our local community are key assets in leading the new facility capital campaign,” said Fredric Weinbaum, Interim Chief Administrative Officer, Chief Medical Officer, and Chief Operating Officer for Stony Brook Southampton Hospital.

The Southampton Hospital Association has provided South Fork communities with access to medical services, programs, and facilities for over a century. Recent achievements include the Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Paulson Family Emergency Department, Audrey and Martin Gruss Heart & Stroke Center, Kathleen D. Allen Maternity Center, The Phillips Family Cancer Center, and the future Stony Brook Medicine East Hampton Satellite Emergency Department, which is currently under construction and scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2024 and open by early 2025.
