This year, the Springs School Parent Teacher Association is bringing back the wildly popular Springs Mystery Art Sale (SMArtS). The art sale will be open to the public on Friday, June 7, and Saturday, June 8, at Ashawagh Hall.
The Mystery Art Sale, initially inspired by a world-famous event at the Royal College of Art in London, is where Springs School students and professional artists create 5×7” postcard-sized artworks that will be exhibited anonymously alongside one another — all for the same tiny price tag.
Artwork will be sold for $20 each, culminating in a closing party on Saturday, June 8, from 5 to 8 PM, when the “mystery” will be revealed. Art collectors will discover whether they have invested in a valuable work from a well-known artist or a masterpiece from a budding young artist.
The opening night sales event will be held from 5 to 8 PM on June 7. The show will continue on June 8 from 11 AM to 5 PM, followed by the closing party.
All donations will directly enhance Arts Education at Springs School. Springs School is in the heart of a rich historical district of past and contemporary artists. Fundraisers like this are essential to keep extra-curricular opportunities going and continue to foster an appreciation of the arts in the next generation.
There will also be a silent auction. Artists interested in participating can email springsmysteryartsale@gmail.com.
