Guild Hall will host MacArthur Fellow, drag icon, and award-winning performer Taylor Mac for Taylor Mac: Born to Run (To and From the Hamptons) on Friday, September 27, at 7 PM.
In Mac’s first-ever performance in the Hamptons, the evening of songs will feature recent works written in collaboration with composer and music director Matt Ray, with performances by Taylor Mac, Matt Ray, alongside band members Viva DeConcini, Gary Wang, and Shirazette Tinnin and produced by Pomegranate Arts.
This new evening of songs, created for Guild Hall, includes Mac’s signature banter and will feature recent works, including songs from the 24-Decade project and Bark of Millions, a new rock opera meditation on queerness.
Taylor appears bedazzled in a fantastical costume by longtime collaborator the artist Machine Dazzle, who recently won the Creative Arts Emmy for “Outstanding Costumes for Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Programming” for his designs in the HBO documentary “Taylor Mac’s 24 Decade History of Popular Music.”
