This year’s annual Artists and Writers charity softball match will be held on Saturday, August 17, at 2 PM in Herrick Park in East Hampton Village. Renowned creatives and celebrities will participate in the game to raise money for four important local charities, including Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center, Phoenix House Academy of Long Island, East End Hospice, and The Retreat.
In addition to the main event, the day will feature a special Kids’ Korner, including glitter tattoos and balloon animals, ensuring fun for all ages.
Among those stepping up to bat are NY Daily News columnist and best-selling author Mike Lupica, New Yorker writer and best-selling author Ken Auletta, best-selling biographer Walter Isaacson, actress Lori Singer, CBS Weatherman Lonnie Quinn, CBS 2 News anchor Chris Wragge, Founder, Mo Digital & Mo News Mosheh Oinounou and many more. Some past participants include President Bill Clinton, Paul Simon, and Jerry O’Connell.
Batting practice starts at 12:30 PM. 1010 WINS Juliet Papa and scorekeeper Josh Brandman will announce play-by-play, offer commentary, raffle prizes, and interview special guests. The suggested donation is $10 at the gate. T-shirts and hats will be available for purchase.

An Artist and Writers Charity Game Pre-Party will be held Friday, August 16, from 6 to 9 PM at AB NY Gallery, which will present the debut solo exhibition of Peter Ngo, titled “The Art of Survival.” Raised in East Hampton, Ngo knew from an early age that he wanted to be involved with fashion and art. He began his journey in 2000 by being accepted to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology and later the School of Visual Arts. After completing both programs, he worked in New York for John Varvatos and Zegna, styling some of the top artists, musicians, models, tastemakers, and celebrities while pursuing fashion photography and painting, a creative outlet that has continued to the present. The artist’s work often features ethereal, mythic women floating amongst a wide array of imagery like plants, animals, spatial astronomical bodies, and wind energy turbines. The exhibit is on display through August 20.
