The Southampton Fresh Air Home celebrated the summer season with its 37th Annual Picnic with Fireworks by Grucci on Friday, July 12. Over 600 guests attended the event, and the gracious hosts of 22 years, Danielle and David Ganek, were honored. SFAH president Ann Yawney spoke about the organization’s mission and history, and Cathy Price presented the Ganek Family with a special plaque for their dedication and service to SFAH, which serves children and young adults with physical disabilities.
Event chairs were Nicky and Jamie Grant, Pam and Bill Michaelcheck, Cathy and Malcolm Price, Barbara and Randall D. Smith, Mimi and Andy Crawford, Lise and Michael Evans, Tania and Brian Higgins, Bronwen GP Smith, Ashley and Victor Wu, Susan and Chris Golden, Stephanie and Steve Hessler, Liza and Shaw Joseph, Pamela and John Kern, Christl and Kenny Meszkat. Among the many guests were Gabrielle Bacon, Dennis Basso, Tory Burch, and Candace Bushnell.
Darren Ottati sang the national anthem, and Fireworks by Grucci wowed guests with a spectacular fireworks display over Shinnecock Bay, orchestrated to patriotic and pop music.
Highlights of the evening included a picnic buffet, pizza truck, live music, and a silent disco. Children were delighted with carts filled with popcorn, cotton candy, ice cream, and other tasty treats. Carnival booths, a bouncy castle, arts and crafts, and stilt walkers had children smiling and laughing.
All proceeds from this event benefit the Southampton Fresh Air Home, a year-round center for children with physical disabilities.
