Camille Zarsky’s Jewelry Treasure Trove In Sag Harbor

Camille Zarsky‘s West Village treasure trove, The Seven, has brought its curated selection of jewelry back to Sag Harbor this Summer. Located at Matriark on Main Street, The Seven showcases signature styles and one-of-a-kind pieces from designers like Jenna Blake, Emily P. Wheeler, Lauren Rubinski, Nikos Koulis, and Marie Lichtenberg. We spoke to Zarsky to learn more.

Tell us about your background and the concept for your boutique, The Seven.

I used to work in fashion, but I’ve always been drawn to fine jewelry. Since I was little, my dad would gift me antique jewelry for birthdays and holidays, and I’ve been collecting ever since. The idea for The Seven came when I couldn’t find the pieces I was looking for out in the market — an edit for the woman who wants something different, more personalized. I love that deep connection you feel with jewelry, how each piece can tell a story.

What inspired you to bring your boutique to the East End?

I’ve been coming to Sag Harbor for over 16 years, and it will always be my favorite place to enjoy the Summer. The strong sense of community in Sag has really drawn me in, so when I had the opportunity to partner with and pop up in the Matriark, I knew it was a perfect fit. Opening my store in my favorite Summer destination will always be an incredibly special moment for me.

Can you tell us how your mother, a jewelry designer, and six aunts inspired the name?

The name “The Seven” is a nod to my late mother and her six sisters, who were all a huge part of my childhood. They all loved shopping, collecting, and hunting down special, hard-to-find pieces with me when I was little, which are some of my best memories. Since jewelry is so timeless and gets passed down through generations, naming the boutique after them felt like the perfect way to celebrate their legacy.

What are a few of your go-to pieces for summer 2024?

Our own mini beaded necklaces that we commissioned for our store out of Sleeping Beauty turquoise and Ethiopian opal are summer musts for me. Other holy grails for me at the moment are a good chunky Lauren Rubinski chain and Nadine Aysoy’s pink sapphire heart earrings because they’re a dream barefoot with jeans and t-shirt, one of our Amazonite Suzy Landa pink hearts or the most essential summer piece: a Robin Labb pearl pendant on leather cord. And, of course, any bracelet stack from Jenna Blake or Harwell Godfrey.

Can you talk about the design of the boutique by Blake Brunson?

Blake is a genius —she took my initial ideas and really elevated them. She immediately understood my vision of creating interiors that reflect the craftsmanship of the designers I am fortunate enough to work with. She suggested alterations to the space that truly set us apart, making our boutique feel more like someone’s home than a store, and the attention to detail is not something you typically see people invest in for a retail environment.

For example, the designer who hand-painted our floors created that look by painting a layer of paint every day for 7 days. Our wallpaper is a custom Gracie wallpaper, hand-painted with elements from my family and childhood hidden onto the landscape. All seven of my past and present dogs are also pictured on this wallpaper. Blake created the same level of detail in our Hamptons location. The vision behind this location was to have a space that yielded the same feeling of being in someone’s home but, this time, to be a chic beach abode. The pinstripe pink fabric walls and custom-painted vintage furniture were all details she came up with to achieve this vision.

What does your perfect day in the Hamptons look like? Do you have any favorite spots to visit?

My perfect day would start with a visit to Sagtown for coffee with my sweet dog William in tow. We’d have the top down on my car and stop for a mini beach walk after that. I’d spend the day on Long Beach in Sag Harbor swimming and or paddle boarding, and I’d have lunch to go from Provisions (likely the taco salad). I like to stop by the store in the afternoons on days when I’m not working there to say hi to any friends who may be popping in, and I’d end the day with pasta and wine at Tutto Il Giorno with William in tow again!
