The Springs Tavern, a historic bar and restaurant in Springs, is available for the first time in years. Dating back to the early 20th-century this establishment is a staple of the East Hampton community. Former iterations include Wolfie’s, Jungle Pete’s, and others over the decades.
One of the most storied parts of the tavern’s history was in the 1940s and ’50s when Jackson Pollock was a daily regular. It became a gathering spot for the growing artist and beatnik community.
The property is represented by The Hamptons Commercial Real Estate Team, Hal Zwick and Jeffrey Sztorc of Compass. According to a press release from the team, “With an increased year round population, Springs is continuing to see a steeper growth curve than many other communities on the East End. Most restaurant sites are grandfathered in, as it is very difficult to acquire a wet use site on the East End. This location is surrounded by a year round community meaning the business has great potential for additional expansion on top of the proven consistency.”
A sizable restaurant with 120 seats, the interior comprises of a great bar, large dining area, and commercial kitchen. The site has ample parking and a spacious outdoor seating section as well. The business is now for sale with a long term lease in place.
