According to the inscription on the permanent dedication plaque in the Memorial Garden at Home Sweet Home Museum on James Lane in East Hampton, the late Loretta Orion “Loved her gardens and sang the praises of her helpers.”
On Thursday, September 29, family and friends gathered in the garden to sing the praises of Loretta. Loretta’s husband, East Hampton Town and Village Historian Hugh King hosted the event, which featured a poetry reading, the Strong Sisters trio singing their rendition of “Home Sweet Home,” words by former East Hampton Village Mayor Paul Rickenbach, refreshments courtesy of The Hedges Inn, and reminiscences about Loretta. East Hampton Village Mayor Jerry Larsen unveiled the plaque.
