Parrish Salon Series Kicks Off With Pegasus: The Orchestra

Salon Series, the Parrish Art Museum’s classical music program featuring world-class artists performing in an intimate, casual setting that evokes the salons of Paris, presents a new roster of diverse music and musicians on Fridays at 6 PM, including Pegasus: the Orchestra, on April 29; harpist Parker Ramsey on May 6, and violinist Ariel Horowitz on May 13.

The series kicks off with Pegasus: the Orchestra, a chamber ensemble of nine virtuosi musicians of diverse backgrounds and cultural heritages. Passionate about fostering artistic freedom, programming an innovative repertoire, and weaving a strong community fabric, Pegasus advocates for the right to music education, and promotes humanity and equality. Compact and flexible, Pegasus performs works with a variety of instrumentation, from duos to full orchestra.

At Salon Series, the group will perform Baroque masterpieces: Antonio Vivaldi’s “Trio Sonata in D Major,” and Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Brandenburg Concerti No. 4 and No. 5,” featuring soloists Eiko Kano, concertmaster and violinist; and Kaori Fujii, flutist. Karén Hakobyan conducts from the harpsichord. In addition to these principals, the ensemble comprises violinists Edson Scheid and Stani Dimitrova, violist William Hakim, cellist Connor Kim, contrabassist Milad Daniari, and flutist Katie Althen.

Tickets for Pegasus: the Orchestra are $15 for members and students, $5 for children, and $30 for nonmember adults. For the most recent Covid protocol, visit parrishart.org/visit.
