Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts presents “Becoming Dr. Ruth”, which marks the return to live theater at Bay Street after 15 months. The show had a successful opening night on June 5.
The opening night featured an appearance from Dr. Ruth Westheimer, who celebrated her 93rd birthday after the show as she was joined on stage by Tovah Feldshuh, Artistic Director Scott Schwartz, and Executive Director Tracy Mitchell.
Becoming Dr. Ruth chronicles the life of noted psychologist Dr. Ruth Westheimer, from her early years fleeing Nazi Germany, living as an orphan in Switzerland, to her service in the Israeli armed forces as a sharpshooter, and her later life and career in New York.
The one-woman show, written by Mark St. Germain, runs through June 27 and stars Feldshuh in the title role. Tickets are on sale now. Visit baystreet.org.
