Rivian, the all-electric automaker known for its innovative electric trucks and SUVs, opened its first East Coast Charging Outpost in Southampton this August — a unique charging destination that provides EV owners with an elevated charging experience and pit stop while on the road.
Guests can enjoy a relaxing lounge with complimentary coffee, curated local snacks and goods, an outdoor kids’ play area, and an indoor reading nook adorned with art prints by New York-based artist Danielle Kroll.
The Outpost opened the weekend of August 8, with a series of events. Rivian hosted a drive-in movie on Friday evening, showing “The Goonies” while guests enjoyed oysters served on ice in the front trunk of a Rivian R1T pickup and freshly popped popcorn. On Saturday, Rivian took over Post House in Sag Harbor with an R1T parked in the same space where Post House founder Walter Savage trained guests. On Saturday afternoon, Rivian led a group kayaking excursion in the North Sea Harbor.
Demo drives were also available for guests curious about the vehicles or transitioning to an EV. The site offers six fast chargers, including a trailer-friendly pull-through option, and is open to all EV owners.
The Outpost is located at 1 Montauk Highway in Southampton.
