Southampton Playhouse Kicks Off Summer Program With June Lineup: Jesse Eisenberg, Tony Gilroy, Julianne Moore, Killer Films, & More

The Southampton Playhouse announced its June programming lineup for the start of its inaugural summer season. The lineup features a variety of programming that spans Q&As with award-winning talent, book signings, car meet-ups, horror films, and more. Additional summer programming will be announced in the weeks ahead.

“We are thrilled to launch the season with a range of incredible guests and special events that make the most of our theater and its community,” said Artistic Director Eric Kohn. “Our June programming epitomizes the powerful blend of cinema and related cultural experiences we will be celebrating at the Playhouse throughout this summer and beyond.”

Join the Southampton Playhouse on June 8 for a clips and conversation event with Oscar nominee and “Andor” creator Tony Gilroy in celebration of the show’s critically acclaimed second season. The Peabody Award-winning and Emmy-nominated drama brings a unique voice, bold narrative structure, and human-scale storytelling to the Star Wars universe. Gilroy is also known for writing and directing the Oscar-nominated “Michael Clayton” and writing the “Bourne” series.

On June 14, Academy Award-winning actress and New York Times bestselling author Julianne Moore presents her book “Freckleface Strawberry,” in conversation with actor Jesse Eisenberg.  Illustrated by award-winning artist LeUyen Pham, Moore’s picture book encourages young readers to celebrate the uniqueness in themselves and others. Moore and Eisenberg previously worked together on his directorial debut, “When You Finish Saving The World,” and recently wrapped production on Eisenberg’s upcoming musical comedy, which he wrote and will direct.

Eisenberg will also join the Playhouse for a screening of the 2009 horror flick “Zombieland,” which follows a shy student trying to reach his family in Ohio, a gun-toting bruiser in search of the last Twinkie and a pair of sisters striving to get to an amusement park join forces in a trek across a zombie-filled America. The screening will set the stage for the much-anticipated release of Danny Boyle’s “28 Years Later,” which opens at the Playhouse the following week.

The summer speeds up with the IMAX release of Apple Original Films’ “F1: The Movie” on June 27. Be among the first to experience the adrenaline-fueled world of Formula 1, starring Brad Pitt. Catch the exclusive Fan First IMAX Premiere on June 23, ahead of the film’s release. Leading up to the film’s release, the Southampton Playhouse will host a Fast Cars Forever screening series. The series kicks off on June 20. Ahead of the “F1: The Movie” screening on June 28, there will be a car club meet-up with Rally Point East in the Playhouse parking lot.

To close out Pride month, the Playhouse will celebrate 30 years of Killer Films with co-founders Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler, followed by a screening of Todd Haynes’ “Velvet Goldmine,” which the pair produced. The film follows British journalist Arthur Stuart as he investigates the career of 1970s glam superstar Brian Slade, who was heavily influenced in his early years by hard-living and rebellious American singer Curt Wild.
