Guild Hall’s “Swept Away: Love Letter to a Surrogate(s)” made its premiere at Main Beach in East Hampton last Saturday, September 10.

Fourteen of 65 East End artists, in simultaneous groupings of three to five, presented their interpretations of love letters by their assigned partners in Los Angeles. The five illuminated rings of happenings were a feast for the eyes and the mind. Attendees both watched and participated, from dancing with Margaret Garrett to casting poems on water soluble paper into the ocean with Philippe Cheng, watching a performance art piece by Darius Yektai, and listening to poetry by Scott and Megan Chaskey.
