“The Year of Magical Thinking” arrives at Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center in a one-night-only benefit reading of the play by Joan Didion, featuring Edie Falco, and directed by John Benjamin Hickey.
The reading, benefiting The New Group and WHBPAC, takes place Sunday, August 2, at 8 PM at Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center, with a reception immediately following.
The New Group, one of New York City’s leading theater companies, brings artistic alumna and award-winning actress Edie Falco to Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center to perform Joan Didion’s Tony-nominated solo play. Based on her award-winning novel, this poignant memoir about loss and love is a masterclass in Didion’s iconic style of precision and keen observation.
Scott Elliott, Founding Artistic Director of The New Group, shared, “We’re thrilled to bring this work to Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center and partner with this cultural pillar in The Hamptons to present this powerful reading. We’ve been wanting to bring programming out to the Hamptons for a while, and when our longtime friend Edie agreed to read this wonderful piece by Joan Didion, and John agreed to direct, it felt like the perfect opportunity.”
