The Stella Flame Gallery in Bridgehampton presents the exhibit “BOUQUET: Rise! The Pursuit Of Nectar,” featuring a solo show of new paintings by Brooklyn-based artist Craig Anthony Miller. An opening reception on Friday, January 19, from 5 to 7 PM, will be co-hosted by Dan Gasby, a fellow Brooklynite. The show celebrates Black History Month and the influence of Black creatives in the arts.
Craig Anthony Miller was born and raised in Brooklyn and received his MFA from St. John’s University in Queens. Miller’s paintings of stained-glass-style figures rise through a magical landscape with symbols of freedom, strength, resilience, and well-being.
The evening’s festivities include a wine tasting and Oceano Wines’ “Ocean Zero” non-alcoholic Pinot Noir kick-off. Oceano’s founder, Rachel Martin, will serve the “Ocean Zero” Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, available for purchase throughout the evening.
A portion of the proceeds from all sales during the artist’s reception will benefit the Southampton African American Museum. SAAM is the first African American site to be a historically designated landmark in the Village of Southampton and the first Black barbershop to be transformed into a museum in the United States.
The exhibition runs through February 29.
