Sag Harbor’s Baron’s Cove will mark its 65th anniversary this year with a week filled with fun and nostalgic programming and ephemera that nods to the year the property debuted. The 67-room hotel — which originally opened for the summer of 1958 — will present a series of themed events, menus, and activities from Wednesday, July 5, to Saturday, July 15, tied to the anniversary.
Since opening as The Sag Harbor Motel and Inn in 1958, Baron’s Cove has sat on one of the town’s most coveted inlets, complete with sweeping harbor views from its restaurant, guestrooms and grounds. Today, the property still caters to both overnight guests and locals seeking a relaxing, all-American waterfront experience on the East End.
Bringing guests back in time, Baron’s Cove’s 1958 Programming includes a Vintage 1950s Chrysler Windsor Deluxe convertible “Blue Betty” onsite all week and 65th Birthday BBQ celebrations which take place on July 8 and July 15 from 1 to 5 PM. There will be 1950s-inspired specials, including Oysters Rockefeller and BBQ specials, at The Restaurant at Baron’s.
Hula Hoop Yoga — the most popular toy in 1958 — will take place daily at 9 AM, and there will also be Hula Hoop contests with a 1958 playlist on July 8, 14, and 15 at 3 PM.
Don’t miss an onsite vintage themed ice cream shoppe offering banana splits, chocolate sundaes, and waffle cones on July 8 and July 16 from 1 to 3 PM. And watch poolside movies featuring top films from 1958.
“I’ve always had a passion for historic hotels and believe we are the caretakers and custodians of these amazing properties to preserve them for future generations to enjoy,” said Cape Resorts co-founder Curtis Bashaw. “Baron’s Cove holds so many memories for so many generations of people in Sag Harbor and beyond, and we are thrilled to be a part of its history and celebrate its 65th anniversary by infusing the property with a bit of whimsy and nostalgia this season.”
