Cocktail Recipe: Ending Sweetly

Ending Sweetly is created by Giuseppe Santochirico, Libations Curator for Halftone Spirits at Finback in Brooklyn.

A few words on the drink: “A more aromatic and slightly more subtle riff on your classic Sazerac: the apple brandy adds a little tannic bite and elegantly elevates the ABV content so the Pomp and Whimsy aromatic can shine. Using a good quality PX will add an extra fruity and chocolaty complexity that simple syrup simply can’t provide. Best enjoyed at the end of your NYE dinner, to sweet up a bitter year.”

Ingredients

2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters

25 oz PX sherry

.5 oz Laird’s Apple Brandy

5 oz Pomp and Whimsy

Islay Scotch to rinse and vaporize

Lemon peel to garnish

Preparation Instructions

Fill an Old-Fashioned glass with ice, add few dashes of Scotch and stir. Set aside.

Pour all the ingredient in a mixing glass, add ice and stir. Dump the ice from the glass. Strain the drink in the chilled glass and express the oils from the lemon peel.
