Compass has announced the recent acquisition of the revered Sands Motel by, Enduring Hospitality, a distinguished hospitality group. While the buying group prefers to keep details under wraps until a formal announcement at a later date, this acquisition marks a significant addition to their portfolio, according to the brokerage. The transaction was facilitated by the Hamptons Commercial Real Estate Team of Hal Zwick and Jeff Sztorc, serving as both the listing and selling agents.

Nestled at the prime location of 71 S. Emerson Avenue in Montauk, the Sands Motel stands as a landmark, boasting 43 keys spread across four buildings. Known for its ocean views and proximity to both the town center and beach, the Sands Motel has long been a cornerstone of Montauk’s downtown district, offering guests an ideal blend of local charm and contemporary comforts. Its coveted location is situated across from a pristine ocean beach and within easy reach of retail stores and restaurants.

Enduring Hospitality, the new owners of The Sands, shared their vision for the property, stating, “We are excited to join the Montauk community with our acquisition of The Sands. Our goal is to refurbish the existing hotel, focusing on health and wellness, while preserving the authenticity of Montauk and its storied connection to surf culture.”

Jeff Sztorc, a licensed real estate salesperson with Compass, emphasized the significance of the transaction, saying, “We’re thrilled to have facilitated this substantial deal for a beloved Montauk institution. The Sands Motel holds a rich history within the fabric of downtown Montauk, and we eagerly anticipate witnessing a tasteful renovation that will invigorate our commercial district.”

Hal Zwick echoed this sentiment, adding, “We anticipate seeing how The Sands will evolve over the coming year to cater to the burgeoning summer and shoulder season communities. The enhancements are sure to be a welcome addition to Montauk and the East End.”

Featuring a mix of efficiency and one-bedroom units, with select accommodations offering kitchen facilities, The Sands Motel offers a range of amenities, including a pool and various decks.
