It was the late 1990s and I spent every day of summer at Atlantic Avenue Beach in Amagansett with my friends. My baby blue portable cassette player would rotate our mix tapes. Some songs were only half songs, when I didn’t press record in time while recording them off FM radio, but that was alright. I had a beeper that would alert me when my parents were coming to pick me up at the end of the day. Life was good.
