Russell Young Exhibition At The White Room Gallery

The White Room Gallery in Bridgehampton will present “Forever Young,” a solo exhibition featuring Russell Young, from June 8 to June 26.

Young was born in Northern England in 1959. He studied photography, film, and graphic art at the Chester Art College. He gained exposure by shooting live club shows of artists such as R.E.M. and the Smiths.

Young established himself in the entertainment industry, photographing for magazines, album covers, and portraits of artists including Morrissey, Bruce Springsteen, and Bob Dylan. When he wasn’t shooting the pop culture scene, Young was painting.

Young is known for painting celebrated idols who have influenced society and culture. In his recent work, he integrates photography with painting and often uses Diamond Dust to achieve a glamorizing effect that juxtaposes the haunting nature of an image. He uses this technique to portray the vision versus the reality of the American Dream. Young now resides in California and Brooklyn and his work has been featured in galleries across the country as well as abroad.

The opening party for the exhibition will take place in the gallery on Saturday, June 11, from 5 to 7 PM.
